Wen said;"...如今看來,更顯珍貴"I assume that you saw the newly publised book. Of course, inside stories of those two books are the same, but the Bookcover is different. Comparing those two cover designs, which one do you like?
Behind a hero, there are many unknown heroes.Chen was the person who translated the English version of “ Formosa Betrayed” into Hanji version, Chen should get credit for that. However, there was a story that need to be told. In 1970’s, as a student studying in the United States, under the watch by KMT professional students in the white terror period of time, to publish a book such as “被出賣的台灣” was not easy. It was a big and ambitious task to students who have no resources. There must have many obstacles to overcome. I tend to believe that it was not an one-person operation and that it was an operation by a group of people.1) who was the person raising the idea of publishing a Hanji version.2) Where the money came from and who paid for the publishing this book.3) Who proof-readded this book,4) Who designed this book,5) Who designed the bookcover,6) Who marketed this book,7) Who published this book ( In 1970’s in the US, there was no printing shop, owned by Taiwanese, Some print shops owned by Chinese were in Chinese towns. But, they probably would not taken the job and printed it. All newsletters published by either Taiwanese or Chinese were in the form hand-writing.)
